Week 7 NFL Preview: Carolina Panthers vs. Philadelphia Eagles

on

The NFC East division leading Philadelphia Eagles are flying to Charlotte to play against the NFC South leading undefeated Carolina Panthers at Bank of America Stadium. This is an interesting matchup because it is a both a prime time game and rematch from last season.

The Eagles routed the Carolina Panthers last season 45-21. The Eagles’ defense had a field day and sacked Panthers quarterback Cam Newton nine times, and forced three interceptions. Newton finished the game with a 15.3 QBR rating and with the understanding that he needed to protect the ball better. The poor offensive line play and Newton being injured didn’t help.

The Panthers left this game with their tail between their legs and a 3-6-1 record. What did they do the rest of the season? They ended up winning the NFC South with a 7-9-1 record.

This season the two teams are currently leading their divisions, but have taken different routes to the top. The Panthers are currently undefeated and have a 5-0 record. The Eagles are sitting at 3-3 and a lead division that’s filled with question marks. So who will win this matchup?

Carolina Cat Chronicles Lead Writer Justin Raymond made a guest appearance this week on The Best in the World Sports Report to talk about the Panthers’ season, and the matchup between the Panthers and the Eagles.

He was asked…

How are the Panthers 5-0? Justin said, “Having him [Cam Newton] healthy, putting the team on his back and having that next man up mentality.”

What are the keys to the game for both teams?

Carolina Panthers:

  • Protecting Cam Newton
  • Run Game
  • Pressure Sam Bradford

Philadelphia Eagles
