The NY Giants Finish Off The Redskins 32 – 21

The New York Giants football team started fast, and played a full 60 minutes as they finished off the hapless Redskins 32 – 21.

The Giants opened the scoring with a safety as starting running back Rashad Jennings blocked a punt that dribbled out of the end zone giving the Giants an early 2 – 0 lead.  The Giants defense, led by Kerry Wynn and Prince Amukamara, held the Redskins’ offense scoreless in the first quarter.  Wynn supplied consistent QB pressure, while Amukamara intercepted a pass to set up the Giants first TD.  The Giants gave up six first half points, but their big accomplishment was holding the leading NFL rushing team to a paltry 88 yards.  The defense forced 4 turnovers.  The Redskins scored 15 second half points on a kick return, 2 pt conversion, and a cheap last minute TD pass.  The defense was solid the entire game.

Eli Manning was good completing 23 of 32 passes for 279 yards and 2 TD’s.  Manning played mistake free ball and continually got the ball to Giants’ star play maker  Odell Beckham Jr.  Beckham Jr. had another big day hauling in 7 passes for 79 yards and a highlight reel  30 yard TD catch.  Beckham Jr had help from fellow wide receiver Reuben Randle, who had a 41 yard TD catch and finished the night with 7 catches for 116 yards.  Andre Williams opened the scoring with a 1 yard TD run following Prince Amukamara’s interception.  The Giants’ running game lacked a big punch, but injuries to key offensive linemen probably put a damper in their plans.  The Giants will need to find more of a rushing attack to consistently finish games and provide balance for Eli’s passing attack.

The NY Giants move to 1 – 2, and go on the road to face the Buffalo Bills Sunday, October 4.
