Redskins’ Defense Dominates in 24 – 10 Win Over Rams

All of the pre game talk was about how good the St Louis Rams defense was last week, and what they might do to the Washington Redskins.  The Redskins took offense, and changed the story as the defense and offensive line dominated in a 24  – 10 win over the rams.

Kirk Cousins Passing against Rams 2015

Kirk Cousins started the game completing his first six passes and throwing two scoring strikes as the Redskins jumped out to a 17 – 0 lead.  It was not all about Cousins and the passing game.  Rookie Matt Jones ran all over the Rams as the offensive line pushed the Rams’ vaunted defense up and down the field.

The only offensive blemish of the day was a Matt Jones fumble in the third quarter.  Jones made up for it rushing for 123 yards and scoring two TD’s.  Kirk Cousins had a very sharp game passing for 203 yards and completing 23 – 27 for 1 TD and no turnovers.

The defense gave up 10 second half points, but they pressured, harassed, and thoroughly roughed up Nick Foles and the Rams offense.  Tavon Austin was held to one big play that led to a field goal, but the Redskins defense continually made big plays and stayed discipline as they held the Rams to 10 points and very little offensive production.

The Washington Redskins move to 1 – 1 and go on the road to face the NY Giants on Thursday night.
