Philadelphia Eagles Soar Past New Orleans Saints 39-17


Philadelphia Eagles’ fans waiting for the high powered offense to kick into gear don’t have to wait any longer as the Eagles soar past the New Orleans Saints 39-17.

The Eagles put together a complete offensive and defensive game.  Sam Bradford torched the Saints throwing for two TD’s and 333 yards.

DeMarco Murray finds running room against Saints

Ryan Matthews rushed for 73 yards and 1 TD on 8 carries, and DeMarco Murray carried 83 yards and 1 TD on 20 carries as the Eagles found a way to spread the ball around to all of their key running backs.  Josh Huff and Brent Celek each had a TD catch, while Bradford completed passes to 9 different receivers.

Fletcher Cox sacks Drew Brees

The Philly D was all about pressure as they sacked Drew Brees 5 times.  Fletcher Cox had 3 sacks, and Walter Thurmond had an interception.  The Eagles defense was good all day as they contained the Saints’ passing attack giving up under 300 yards passing and only 96 yards on the ground.

The Saints jumped to a 7-0 lead, but the Eagles scored 10 unanswered points.  The Saints kicked a field goal to tie it at 10-10.  After that, the Eagles soared scoring 29 straight second half points.  The defense dominated, while the Offense put on the type of show fans have been waiting to see all year.

The Eagles move to 2-3, and will face division rivals the NY Giants in a Monday Night Football NFC East showdown Oct 19.
