Eli Delivers In New York Giants 30-27 Win Over San Francisco 49ers 30-27


With 26 seconds left in the game, Eli Manning delivers, and throws a 12 yard TD pass in the NY Giants 30-27 win over the San Francisco 49ers.

Eli Manning is clutch! On a bruising Carlos Hyde 2 yard TD run, the San Francisco 49ers came from behind to take a 27-23 lead.  The 49ers left Eli with only 1:45 to drive the length of the field.  Manning, coolly led the Giants on an 8 play 82 yard drive that was capped off when Manning threw a perfect, 12 yard strike over the hands of two 49er defenders and into the hands of third year tight end Larry Donnell for the game winning TD.  On the drive, Odell Beckham Jr. returned from an early injury to draw a pass interference call deep in 49er’s territory.

The game was filled with big plays and time consuming drives.  The 49ers started the scoring in the first quarter with an 8 play 55 yard drive capped off by a Phil Dawson field goal.  The Giants came right back and tied the score 3-3 on a 9 play 76 yard drive.  The Giants would take a 10-3 second quarter lead on a 14 play 81 yard drive capped by a 2 yard TD pass from Manning to Shane Vereen.   The Giants drove 43 yards in 10 plays where Josh Brown connected on a 41 yard field goal to give the Giants a 13-3 lead.  The 49ers answered with an 11 play 76 yard drive that ended with a Dawson 21 yard field goal cutting the Giants’ lead to 13-6.  Manning had a chance to break the game open before the half, but was intercepted in the end zone.

The 49ers started the second half with a 10 play 88 yard drive.  Colin Kaepernick hit Anquan Boldin on a 2yard TD to finish the drive and tie the score 13-13.   The Giants answered with another Odell Beckham Highlight reel 17 yard catch and run TD.  The drive was 61 yards in 7 plays.   San Francisco answered with an 11 play 80 yard TD drive, and the Giants countered with a 14 play 74 yard drive that would set up the dramatic finish.

Eli Manning finished the game passing for 441 yards and three TD’s.  He had one interception while completing 41 of 54 passes.

Odell Beckham Jr finds room against 49ers

Odell Beckham Jr. had 121 receiving yards and 7 catches.  Unfortunately, the Giants running game was held to 84 yards.

Third year defensive end Damontre Moore led the defense with two sacks, and the defense forced two fumbles in a bend but not break type of performance.

The NY Giants move to 1st place in the NFC East with a 3-2 record.  The Giants’ next game is at home Monday night, Oct 19 against NFC East rival Philadelphia Eagles.
