Dallas Cowboys Give Game Away To NY Giants 27-20

on

The Dallas Cowboys turned the ball over 4 times in the second half to make sure they gave the NY Giants a 27-20 win.

Dallas was in position to win the game all day.  The defense forced the Giants’ offense to punt early and often, but the Cowboys lack of offensive playmakers finally caught up to them and the Giants took full advantage.

After forcing the Giants to punt, The Cowboys took the opening possession and ran it down the Giants’ throat.  Dallas went away from the run and threw two incomplete passes forcing them to kick a field goal for a 3-0 lead.

The Giants answered quickly on a 7 play 72 yard drive that was capped off by unheralded running back Orleans Darkwa running 15 yards for a score.  Dallas answered with a Dan Bailey FG and a Darren McFadden TD run.  The Giants tacked on a FG of their own to go into the half down 13-10.

All hell broke lose in the second half as Matt Cassel, starting in his first game at QB for Dallas, threw three interceptions.  The first interception was the most costly as Dominique Rogers-Cromartie stepped in front of Cassel’s pass and returned it 58 yards for a TD.  It was Rogers-Cromartie’s 2nd TD of the season and 2nd against the Cowboys.

The Dallas defense kept the Cowboys in the game, and gave them a chance to win.  With the score 20-13, the Cowboys’ D held the Giants giving the Cowboys offense a shot to tie the game.  Matt Cassel took advantage and threw a beautiful pass to the corner of the end zone connecting with the tip toeing Devin Street for a 25 yard TD pass.  Unfortunately, it was short lived as former Dallas Cowboy, Dwayne Harris, returned the kickoff  100 yards for a game winning TD.

With less than 2 minutes to go in the game, Dallas forced a punt, but Cowboys’ punt returner muffed the punt and it was recovered by the Giants.  The Giants ran out the clock to win 27-20.

The Dallas running game was full steam ahead as Darren McFadden rushed for 152 yards.  Unfortunately, Matt Cassel was 17-27 227 yards 1 TD and 3 INT’s.
