Cam Newton Is CLUTCH!!

on

Love Him or Hate Him – Praise Him or Criticize Him….there is only one thing you can accurately say about the Carolina Panther’s QB:  Cam Newton is CLUTCH!!

That’s right, I said it, but don’t take my word for it.  Cam Newton’s play speaks for itself.

Cam Newton was CLUTCH in college.

At Auburn, Cam Newton won a national championship.  Newton was blessed with a stifling defense anchored by Nick Farley and Dee Ford, a strong running game, and good enough but average wide receivers.  Please, stop me if this sounds familiar.  Newton won the 2010 Heisman trophy carrying the Tigers on his back while putting up remarkably gaudy numbers.  Cam led the team in rushing with 1497 yards, and he somehow passed for 2854.  He threw for 30 TD’s and ran for 20.  Oh, by the way, he only had 7 INT’s in 280 attempts.  But, that was college.  Did I mention they were 14-0?

Drafted #1 by the Carolina Panthers in the 2011 NFL draft, Cam Newton has had the weight of an entire franchise on his back.  How has Cam Newton responded?

As a Rookie, Cam threw for 4051 yards, 21 TD’s, 17INT’s, and completed 310 of his 517 pass attempts.  He rushed for  706 yards.  The Panthers finished the year 6-10, but improved on previous year’s 2-14 mark.

Cam’s 2nd year, the Panthers finished 7-9, but the legend of Clutch Newton started to really form as Clutch threw for 3869 yards, 19 TD’s,  and 12 INT’s.  His dazzling legs rushed for 741 yards.

In year 3, consistent Cam passed for 3379 yards, 24 TD’s, and 13 INT’s, while rushing for just 585 yards.  The Panthers would finish a fantastic 12-4, but lost in Cam’s first playoff game to the eventual NFC Champion San Francisco 49’ers.

In season 4, the Panthers were 7-9.  They somehow won the division, but lost in Cam’s first playoff road game to eventual Super Bowl runner up the Seattle Seahawks.  Cam had another 3127 passing yards, 18 TD’s, 12 INT’s, 539 rushing yards, while only playing in 14 of 16 games.  Did I mention he was injured for at least 5 of the 14 games he played?  The Naysayers still say, he is not their QB.  That’s OK!

In 4 years, Clutch Newton has orchestrated 9 4th Quarter comebacks and eight (8), count’em, yes, 8 game winning drives.  Your “Clutchness” topped that in his 5th season, 2015, with his 10th 4th quarter comeback and 9th game winning drive peeling the skin off the vaunted and heavily favored Seattle Seahawks’ defense.  Cam did it in Seattle, in a playoff type atmosphere, but many fans still say, “he ain’t clutch.”

Hmmm?  The Panthers have started the 2015 NFL season without their top receiver, they have good enough, but an average receiving corp, a good running game, a stifling Defense, and they are undefeated.

Sound familiar?

For those who don’t think Cam is a top 5 NFL QB, (In my best Soprano’s Voice) – Get the f#$# outta here(GTFO), Cam Newton is CLUTCH!
